Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation
Minutes of Executive Committee Meeting
April 8, 2008

Committee Members in Attendance: Steve Henstridge; Christine Kowalski; Matt Reitz; Robyn Sandys

1. Pending Litigation – Russell Panas, last executive director of Old Brooklyn Neighborhood Services (OBNS), and Mary Dixon, their administrative assistant has re-filed a lawsuit seeking accrued sick and personal pay alleged due them when OBNS dissolved. They had filed the suit previously and then withdrew it. They had one year to re-file and just made the deadline to do so. OBCDC is named because the suit assumes that OBCDC is the successor corporation to OBNS. We are not. Our attorneys estimate that it will cost around $500 - $1000 to update material they had prepared previously in connection with the suit.

2. Lori Peterson has accepted a part-time position with Metro Hospital to work on senior citizen housing. She will begin working half-time (with a corresponding salary reduction) for OBCDC on April 16, 2008. Don Heckelmoser and Sandy Worona will pick up some of her duties until we can assess and develop a full-time position which we will advertise.

3. Robyn reported that she was told by Tom Sargent, who sells advertising for the Old Brooklyn Business Directory, that sales are just about completed. While sales are down about 5% at this time, all advertisers have prepaid for their ads.

4. The Housing Fair has been rescheduled for July 26, 2008. There is a good committee working on this effort including a number of realtors. This will be discussed in more detail at the Board Meeting.

5. Mediation – OBCDC and the neighborhood associations (except for South Hills) will be appointing representatives to discuss their issues of concern and go through a mediation process. The Executive Committee had previously approved the expenditure of $250 - $500 to cover OBCDC portion of the mediation cost.

6. The Committee discussed income and expenses of the Old Brooklyn News, including mailing costs, old uncollectible advertising accounts.

7. The Committee discussed the request by Peggy Zeleznik, at the last Board meeting, to withdraw her letter of resignation from the Board.
