Matt Reitz; Staff: Robyn Sandys Matt Reitz called the meeting to order at 6:07 pm, followed by introductions. Minutes: The minutes of the March 18, 2008 Board Meeting were read and approved. In addition, the minutes of the October and November 2007 Board Meetings and the Executive Committee Meetings for November 2007, and January, February , and March 2008 were read and approved with a change to the January 2008 minutes to strike out the word “additional” prior to the word “employment” in the last line of the text. Executive Session: There was no need for an Executive Session. Information Item: Abe Bruckman presented information concerning an article in the West Side News concerning allegations made against him by individuals associated with the Clark Metro Development Corporation. Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s report was read and accepted President’s Report: All three neighborhood associations have agreed to participate in the mediation process. The President discussed the Russell Panas lawsuit. Our employment practices liability insurance will not cover our legal expenses because the suit predates our policy. The Board approved a motion by Dave Lawhun to approve the expenditure of up to $5,000 for legal expense. The President attended a ceremony for individuals who completed C.E.R.T. training. Councilman Report: Councilman Cummins was not present. Councilman Kelley was present and reported the following: The OBCDC was the only CDC from which the Cleveland Safety Director requested assistance with the C.E.R.T. event. The Memphis School site did not have a Section 106 review regarding its historic status because the state of the building required prompt demolition. Therefore some Federal funds for redeveloping the site will not be available. This does not affect available State funds. As a result of the change from 6 to 5 police districts, The 2nd District will cover all of the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood and its western boundary will be to the east of W 65th St. At this point the police car coverage of Old Brooklyn should be about the same or better. PearlBrook shopping center will have a Sears tool repair shop in the Former CVS site and the strip will receive a major exterior appearance improvement. The Dawning School site is receiving a new addition. Executive Director Report: The Executive Director presented her report which is found in the narrative that accompanied the meeting agenda. Committee Reports: Fund Raising: Jim O’Connor discussed the Housing Fair that will be held on July 26th, The Fair will use William Cullen Bryant School as its base of operations, holding seminars followed by tours and vice versa. The next meeting is on April 23rd at 6 pm at the CDC. Code of Regulations: Greg Huth reported that the committee met on 4/14 and went over and refined previous changes. The committee will meet every 2 weeks with a targeted completion date in July. The committee is looking at concepts in the regulations and not just tweaking the legal language. Board Development: Lynea Reindel reported that there are 6 open Board positions to be voted upon. She will be placing a notice in the Old Brooklyn News to invite people to apply for the Board. The committee is working on the nominating process. The committee will increase to 8 by adding 3 members-at-large from the membership. Announcements: Paul Ciupa said that the TLCI study will hold a public meeting in the first week of June. Abe Bruckman said that a group was studying the relationship between transportation and food. Dave Lawhun said that he will have a coin counting machine at the Credit Union for use by residents at no charge. Adjournment: Matt Reitz moved to adjourn the meeting
at about 8 pm. Motion approved.
