Sue Allen - Institutional - Term Expires 2013
Sue Allen is the Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. In that capacity she oversees all aspects of marketing, special events, advertising, and public relations. She has been at the zoo since 1990. Her resume includes eight years of experience as a consultant with Frank N. Magid Associates, one of the country’s largest media research and consulting firms. She was born in Chicago and graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a B.A. in sociology. Sue is also on the Board of Trustees of the Cleveland Animal Protective League and a past board member of OBCDC. Sue has resided in Old Brooklyn for 16 years.
Lawrence (Larry) Avila - Residential - Term Expires 2013
Larry recently retired after 30 years with the RTA. His most recent positions there included Director of Revenue Department, Director of Budget and Finance Department, Director of Accounting Department and various accounting positions prior to the RTA. Larry is involved with St. Michaels Credit Union Board of Trustees, and Cuyahoga County Charter Transition Volunteer.
Book Chrobak - Residential - Term Expires 2014
Book Chrobak is currently a Cleveland Office Coordinator and Financial Data Analyst at Imagine Software Inc. At Imagine Software, Book implemented and currently leads the Cleveland Data Operations internship program as its Intern Site Supervisor. He graduated with a major in Mathematics from the College of Wooster in 1999 and completed his M.B.A. with a Finance concentration at Cleveland State University in 2005. Before graduate school and college, Book attended Saint Ignatius High School. Book was born and raised in Old Brooklyn and currently lives in the South Hills neighborhood with his wife and two children. Book serves on the Cleveland Alumni Leadership Group and is the Leader of the Cleveland Scots in Service for the College of Wooster. He also serves as a Council Member at Plymouth Church of Shaker Heights. Book has completed the Cleveland, Columbus, and most recently the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington DC. He enjoys running and training throughout the Old Brooklyn neighborhood and Towpath Trail.
Terrell Cole - Residential - Term

Terrell came to Ohio to attend Cleveland State University’s Urban Affairs Program and decided to stay in Cleveland. While in school he worked for the Board of County Commissioners and represented the Commissioners on various community issues including Elder Abuse, Predatory Lending, and Workforce Development. He then served in Mayor Jane Campbell’s Cabinet as the Education Liaison to the Cleveland Municipal School District. Currently, Terrell works for the City of Cleveland in the Mayor’s Office managing IT Operations.
Charlie Collier - Institutional - Term Expires 2014
Charlie is the pastor at Grace Church located at 2503 Broadview Road. He has lived in Cleveland since 2007. He graduated from Southeastern University in Lakeland Florida with a BA in Pastoral Counseling in 2000. Charlie spent five years in Waupun, WI and two years in St. Louis, MO serving as the youth and family ministries pastor in both locations. He and wife Carrie and three great kids (Grant, Alayna and Garrett) love living in Old Brooklyn. They enjoy the people, restaurants and walking to the Zoo.
Wilfredo Crespo - Residential - Term Expires 2014
Wilfredo Crespo is a lifelong Cleveland resident and he currently lives in Old Brooklyn. He is a Lieutenant and Paramedic with the Cleveland Fire Department, where he has been a member of the safety forces for 28 years. He is a graduate of Cleveland’s Lincoln West High School, and he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cleveland State University. He is an active member of St. Leo Church where he has been a member of the choir and of the Parish Council; he also teaches PSR. He is co-owner of Lucia’s Fresh Produce, a company that grows produce on a city lot in Cleveland and sells to local residents and restaurants. Wilfredo is married to Phyllis Crespo. They have a blended family with four grown children.
Lynea M. Derwis - Residential - Term

Lynea works as the Assistant Administrator to the Commissioner of Water for the City of Cleveland. In this capacity she oversees the Cleveland Housing Network’s Affordability Program that provides discounts for water bills for eligible residents, in addition to a number of other duties. Prior to this position, Lynea was the Executive Assistant to former Councilwoman Merle R. Gordon and former Ward Leader for Ward 15. In these positions she worked extensively with community groups throughout Ward 15. Lynea was born and raised in Brooklyn Center and Old Brooklyn and raised her own family in Old Brooklyn. She has been actively involved in the community for over 40 years, starting as a candy striper at Deaconess Hospital. She has received several awards in her career, one being the Distinguished Housing Service Award from Clark Metro Development Corporation and is currently pursuing a degree from CSU in the Urban Affairs Program.

Lou was born, raised and attended school in Old Brooklyn. His parents still live in Old Brooklyn and he owns a business in Old Brooklyn for the past 23 years. Lou is currently employed by Cuyahoga County as the Commercial Project Manager for the 2012 Sexennial Reappraisal. He has extensive knowledge in commercial and industrial development, and the costs associated with the development of large commercial projects. Lou also has extensive training in the assessment and collection of real estate taxes for local government.

Greg works for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office and was formally with the Cleveland law firm of Kahn Kleinman, LPA, where he was a member of the real estate practice group and the public law. He spent 10 years with the City of Cleveland. During his tenure with the City he served as both director and assistant director of the Department of Economic Development, and an assistant director of the Law Department. While with the City, Greg was responsible for the creation of the City’s industrial land bank. He also recently served on the 2008 City of Cleveland Charter Review Commission. Greg received his bachelor of music performance degree from Bowling Green State University, College of Musical Arts, and his Juris Doctorate from Cleveland Marshall College of Law.

John's experience encompasses dual careers in the Military (Colonel, Ret. USA) and Aerospace (Manufacturing) Procurement. Retired from Boeing he holds a BS degree from the University of New York, Diplomas from USA Command & General Staff College, The National Defense University and the Engineer Officers Advanced Course and ISO Lead Assessors Quality Systems Certificate. His civilian experience was in management and was spent mostly with Fortune 500 companies. Active in various nonprofit organizations, he has completed two 3-year terms and was elected for a third 3-year terms as board member of 37th Division Veterans Association. John is a member of OBCDC and gardener at Ben Franklin Community Garden for about 20 years where he has raised thousands of dollars to supplement garden expenses. His volunteer work averages several hundred hours a year. John has been elected Chairman of the Garden Operating Committee since its formation in 2008. As a director of the OBCDC board he has been the Chair of the Green Space Committee and a member of the Personnel Committee.

Jeff Kipp is the executive director of LiveCLEVELAND! He has guided the organization through its evolution into an innovative nonprofit civic marketing agency for Cleveland and currently leads its efforts to effectively promote the livability of Cleveland’s neighborhoods. Jeff is a graduate from the University of Dayton (BA) and Cleveland State University (MSW) and is also a graduate of the Neighborhood Leadership Cleveland program. A native northeast Ohioan, Jeff lives in Cleveland’s Old Brooklyn neighborhood with his wife Tricia and their two daughters.

T. J. as he likes to be known has resided in Old Brooklyn since he purchased his home in 2006. He grew up in Medina and moved away to attend Miami University. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration and a degree in Public Administration. He then moved to Chicago to work for an investment real estate group. In 2004, he moved back to Cleveland and worked for several years with National City's Commercial Real Estate Group. T.J. currently holds a position within U.S. Bank's Commercial Real Estate division. In 2006, he earned his MBA from Cleveland State University. He lives in Old Brooklyn with his wife and son.

Theresa Martin has worked for Key Bank for 13 years and is the real estate services manager for Community Development Banking. Prior to working at the bank Theresa was a teacher and director for a day care center in Florida, where she and her husband lived for a few years. She received her bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University and her MBA from Baldwin Wallace College. Theresa has been a visitor to the Old Brooklyn neighborhood her entire life and became a resident 14 years ago when she and her husband purchased her grandparent’s home.

Bruce has lived in Old Brooklyn since 1962. Most everyone knows his family
business, Honey Hut Ice Cream Shoppes, where he is part-owner.
He went to St. Mary’s Byzantine, CA Mooney, JF Rhodes, and Miami
University where he received his Bachelors in Environmental Design. Bruce
also enjoys gardening at the Ben Franklin Garden, bicycling and kayaking.
John Sarver - Institutional - Term Expires 2013
John will be representing Cleveland Housing Network (CHN) as the Utilities Program Manager. He has worked for 15 years in the area of conservation, first with Neighborhood Housing Services and a year with Lutheran Housing which is now CHS, and 25 years as an HVAC contractor. The CDC works closely with CHN on weatherization programs and the new wireless initiative in Ward 13. John has family and friends who live in the neighborhood. He has a strong desire to be involved in the redevelopment of the Old Brooklyn area.

Barbara is the owner of Valley West Hair Designs since 1987 and a life long resident. She has had businesses in Old Brooklyn since 1983. She is very committed to the area and especially likes the history of Cleveland and she loves the Zoo.
John Young - Commercial - Term Expires 2014
John is the owner of Speed Exterminating Company and has been since 1996. Speed Exterminating is a family-owned business and he is the fourth generation with the company. It was established in 1908 and has operated in Old Brooklyn since that time. They currently employ 16 full-time employees serving all of northeast Ohio from this location. John grew up in Fairview Park and currently lives in Richfield with his wife Jackie and two daughters, Madaline and Natalie. He graduated from Baldwin Wallace College in 1989 with a BA in business. John promotes small business as much as possible through his involvement with the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) where he serves on the board of directors.
