About the Artist

Jim Ptacek's works are cityscapes of your mind. Gone are the noise of traffic, the bustle of the crowd. All that remains are the textured images...the beauty and the grace of the city and its structures. He has managed to distill the city down to its very essence...those structures that are a reflection of who and what the city is. Peering through the dark hues and grained images is the life of the city...frozen magically in time by Jim's unique blend of photography and printing techniques. His prints hang in banks, restaurants, corporate offices and private collections throughout the country. They have been the focus of many gallery shows as well. His work has been reproduced as commemorative posters, calendars, post cards, Wendell August Forge Christmas ornaments, men's ties and greeting cards. Jim's works now include the cities of Cleveland, Chicago, Cincinnati, new Orleans, Detroit, Buffalo, Jacksonville, Mobile, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Nashville, San Juan, Puerto Rico and several European cities capturing local scenes and landmarks in limited edition print runs and posters.
