Broadview Road Greening Project

Old Brooklyn CDC and the City of Cleveland are working together to add new trees and green spaces along Broadview Road between Pearl Road and Valley Road by replacing excess sidewalk with planting areas. This effort supports the City’s Complete & Green Streets program and helps improve stormwater management, walkability, and neighborhood appearance.

Timeline & Locations

  • March: Depaving work

  • May 9: First round of tree planting

  • Fall: Second round of tree planting

Tree species and exact locations will be finalized with the City of Cleveland’s Division of Urban Forestry.

Why Add Street Trees?

  • Trees provide shade, cool the streets and sidewalks, and add vibrancy to a corridor.

  • As they mature, they increase economic activity in commercial corridors and reduce stress.

  • Encourages residents to care for the land around them.

Studies show areas with more trees and landscaping attract more people to local businesses and public spaces.

Tree Care & Maintenance

The Old Brooklyn Tree Stewards will be maintaining the trees and space in partnership with the City of Cleveland. Any concerns about the new trees once planted can be directed to our office, so the tree stewards can take care of them.
