What Are You Growing This Spring?

Spring always feels like a reset. You start noticing things again. The weather’s better (well, usually, it is Cleveland), people are outside more, and there’s the feeling that it might be time to do something new. Or finally do that thing you’ve been putting off.

In Old Brooklyn, that idea of growth shows up everywhere. Not just in plants, but in homes, businesses, and the people who live here.

You might see it on your street

More trees. New green space. Areas that used to be all pavement are starting to look a little different. We’ve been working with partners on tree planting and depaving projects to make blocks greener, cooler, and just nicer to be on.

Or maybe it’s closer to home

Spring is when a lot of people start thinking about their space. Fixing something that’s been bothering you. Looking into repairs. Or even starting to think about buying a home for the first time.

That’s where we come in, too. From home repair programs to homebuyer workshops, we’re here to make that process a little less overwhelming and a lot more doable.

You definitely see it with businesses

There’s something exciting about seeing a new “now open” sign go up. Or watching a business that’s been here for years keep growing and trying new things.

We work with business owners at all stages. People just getting started, people expanding, people who’ve been here forever and want to keep going.

And then there’s the people part

Events, volunteer days, Young Professionals, StreetFest. All of it.

It’s not just about showing up to something. It’s about meeting people, running into someone you know, or finally feeling like you’re part of the neighborhood instead of just living in it.

So… what are you growing?

It could be something big. Starting a business. Buying a house. Getting more involved.

Or something small. Planting a garden. Meeting your neighbors. Showing up to one event.

Either way, there’s space for it here. Old Brooklyn has always been a place where people come to grow. And spring is a pretty good time to start.

Want to get involved?

Here are a few easy ways to start:

Old Brooklyn CDC
